Yeezus Finally Goes Platinum

Finally after many tantrums and shade, Yeezus has finally went Platinum  as of January 8th. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) made the announcement, tweeting, “Congratulations to @kanyewest on his 7th @RIAA #Platinum album award for Yeezus – he’s 7 for 7!”

They must have counted the 500k free downloads from google.

This marks Kanye’s seventh platinum album, starting with his 2004 debut The College Dropout and including his 2011 collaborative album with Jay Z, Watch the Throne.

Upon its release in June 2013, Yeezus debuted at No. 1 with 327,000 copies sold in its first week. On February 13, Kanye will hit the road for nine additional dates on his “Yeezus” tour.Unfortunately, he only sold 633K as of 01/12/2014.

The RIAA  considers the 400k in FREE DOWNLOADS towards platinum status.

If Kanye actually sold an extra 400k copies, he would have had the number one record on Billboard or ITUNES. He gave out those records for free, and they counted it towards his platinum status. Billboard does not recognize “free download” sales.. Womp, Womp! I still can’t believe someone took the time to create a religion based on Kanye….
