Even though she had an air tight pre-nup at the time of marriage, I am guessing all of that is changing. Tom Cruise may fork over as much as $40 or $50 million to Katie Holmes in their divorce settlement, according to one celeb attorney. Lisa Helfend Meyer, a prominent LA family attorney, told Web site Celebuzz that Cruise could have paid a lump sum anywhere from $20 million up to a whopping $50 million in the high-profile split, before child support. “I probably make the estimate between $20 million to, maybe, 40, 20 to 50,” Meyer said, estimating how much Holmes would likely receive as a lump sum in the settlement.
“A reasonable range, to me, would be between $20 and 30 [million]. That’s a lot of money. Plus, she gets her child support. In California, it’s usually 7-10% of a person’s income — which, in [Cruise's] case, would make it exorbitant. Assuming his income is $20 million a year, in California, he’s a high-income earner. Therefore, the amount of [child] support is based on Suri’s reasonable needs.”
Meanwhile, reports are saying that it was Cruise and Holmes’ daughter Suri who was “the peacemaker” between her parents in their divorce deal, reached yesterday. “We’re told what turned everything around was a series of conversations that Suri would be irreparably damaged by parental warfare,” reports the Web site about the settlement between the stars.
