Spike Lee Receives Honorary Oscar At The Governors Awards

Spike Lee accepts his Honorary Oscar tonight at the #GovAwards . Spike Lee started by saying thank you to The Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs for “bringing some flavor up in here.” Spike Lee, one the most famous black filmmaker in the history of American movies was presented with an honorary Oscar at the Academy’s 17th Governors Awards on Nov. 14, 2015 Lee is the youngest male to received an Honorary Oscar. Spike Lee and The Academy has had a long history of differences – once Spike Lee said the Oscars “don’t matter.” The iconic filmmaker has always stood his position demanding diversity in movies, roles and winners of the Academy Awards, which is the preeminent award to achieve in Hollywood. Congrats Spike Lee! While receiving his Oscar Spike Lee said “You have to bust your ass, roll up your sleeves, and attack, attack, attack every single day.” Congrats Spike Lee.
