Quincy Jones disses P. Diddy at a Spotify Launch:
Spotify brought producer Quincy Jones to launch their new app featuring artist-curated playlists on earlier this week, but the music legend couldn’t resist dissing P. Diddy for being a music illiterate while touting the music technology.
Jones on Diddy
“P. Diddy wouldn’t know a B-flat” if it hit him, said Jones in a conversation with musician Bruno Mars to mark the occasion of the app launch. “P. Diddy has a doctorate in marketing, He’s got clothes companies and Ciroc vodka.
In all fairness Diddy is a very rich man, thanks to his publishing screw overs, his clothing company backing from Ron Burkle and of course the money from Ciroc, so if that aint a hustler I dont know what is.
Jones on Amy Winehouse
Interviewed by Mars, Jones also said he’d spoken to Amy Winehouse shortly before she died. “Why do you keep f—-ing up your life?” he recalled telling her.
Jones on Emily Bear
Jones brought the piano prodigy Emily Bear, 10, who delighted the audience by playing her own compositions. Jones has just produced her first CD.
After the interview Quincy quickly retracted his statement about Diddy posting on his facebook page
No controversy, no diss. I have nothing but love and respect for Diddy and all that he has achieved as an artist and an executive. Always have and always will.
