Parents in the San Francisco area are not pleased with this all girl Christian private school, after they decided to put  fried chicken, cornbread and watermelon on a Black History Month celebration lunch menu. Officials are Carondelet high school had to send out apologies to people that they’ve offended. Even though it was all in celebration, but alot of people deemed it as racist.

Chicken, watermelon, collard greens,’ University of San Francisco professor James Taylor told KNTV. ‘These stereotypes of black Southern culture come from the same place that the N-word comes from. Because of responses like Taylor’s that school officials held an assembly Wednesday to discuss the issue. Officials also sent a letter apologizing to parents.

Principal Nancy Libby wrote that the items were taken off of the menu and that the last thing the school wanted was to appear in any way racially insensitive.
‘I’d like to apologize for the announcement and any hurt this caused students, parents or community members,’ Principal Libby wrote in the letter. ‘Please know that at no time at Carondelet do we wish to perpetrate racial stereotypes.’

According to KNTV, members of the school’s black student union approached school officials asking that just the watermelon be taken off the menu. Libby said the entire menu, including the chicken and cornbread, would be nixed. She also said the school plans to hold a racial sensitivity assembly for both faculty and students. The professor was adamant on the school making the wrong decision saying that it stereo types blacks and that it doesn’t represent African Americans as a whole.

What I dont get it – Is how could theses people live in the same world we do and not think it was racist!?1 – It just doesnt make sense to me! And these people are supposed to be educators – Teaching children right from wrong and respect and equality – and this iis their form of homage to the black culture – Have we been summized to the cuisine at our tables – There was no other rememberance they would deem fit other than a few pieces of food on a menu- I just cant with these people! Fuck them all!
