The death Chris Lighty was officially ruled a suicide on Friday.

According to  NYDAILYNEWS:

The autopsy revealed that Lighty, 44, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, a spokeswoman from the city’s medical examiner said.

Sources report that Chris had been arguing with his 36-year-old estranged wife, Veronica, as he packed boxes to move out of the W. 232nd St. townhouse.

His 17-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son left the home during the argument and went to a park nearby to let the couple cool off, But during the heated argument, Lighty said, “I’m tired of this,” according to sources before walking out to the backyard and shooting himself in the head.

Police reports confirm that CHRIS LIGHTY was found dead this morning at 11:30 am Thursday morning after he shot himself during an argument with his ex-wife inside his Bronx apartment.

He was shot in the head in what arriving officers reported was self-inflicted and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

No note was recovered, but a 9 mm handgun was found at the scene and there was no sign of forced entry, said Paul Browne, chief spokesman for the New York Police Department.

Chris did NOT have a $5 million debt with IRS. He did have some tax trouble, but the amount he owed was reduced to $300k, after selling his Manhattan condo for 5.6 million  according to Associated Press and HSK. The streets of New York are saying that con-man Bernie Madoff ALSO ripped off Chris Lighty for more than $20 million.

Chris has four kids, and was a powerful force in the hip hop world, comes from a good loving family, suicide just doesn’t sound like him.

“The shocking suicide is reported to have gone down while moving trucks were at the Lighty home, and as the veteran music manager prepared to move out of the three-story townhouse.

“He was in a lot of pain and he possibly had some financial difficulties,” said Norman Downes, a friend who spoke on behalf of Veronica Lighty, who was too upset to speak Friday.

“But they didn’t get into a fight that day,” Downes insisted.

Lighty’s suicide came as he was preparing to move out of their W. 232nd St. home in South Riverdale. The couple was in the midst of a bitter divorce..
