The music industry is in mourning with the tragic news and death of Chris Lighty, CEO of Violator Entertainment.
Music Executive Chris Lighty is dead at 44. Chris Lighty has helped mold and change a lot of music careers, including 50 cent, Busta, Mariah Carey and Missy Elliott.
Police reports confirm that Chris Lighty was found dead this morning at 11:30 am Thursday morning after he shot himself during an argument with his ex-wife inside his Bronx apartment.
He was shot in the head in what arriving officers reported was self-inflicted and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
No note was recovered, but a 9 mm handgun was found at the scene and there was no sign of forced entry, said Paul Browne, chief spokesman for the New York Police Department.
Police officials also told the newspaper that Lighty, 44 years old, was newly divorced and owed the IRS several million dollars.
This is a tragic loss, he will be deeply missed. Prayers to the family and friends.
Details are still emerging, to me this screams foul play, suicide just doesn’t seem real,
Updated: Chris Lighty didn’t owe 5 million to the IRS. He did have some tax trouble, but the amount he owed had been reduced to just around $200k–HSK
