Marvin Gaye was selected to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, set for June 9 in New York City. The hall’s 47th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner will take place at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
Also to be inducted is Elvis Costello, Tom Petty, Chip Taylor and Chic principles Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, who died in 1996.
The new inductees are responsible for such iconic songs as “What’s Going On,” “Wild Thing,” “American Girl,” “Alison,” “Le Freak” and many more amazing hits.
Gaye and Edwards will be inducted posthumously.
