The singer’s former best friend is writing a tell all book about the superstar, we’ve all known Gaga to use drugs but Brendan Jay Sullivan is preparing to release his tell-all book, Rivington Was Ours: Lady Gaga, The Lower East Side and the Prime of Our Live. Due to hit bookshelves on August 27, Sullivan’s book lifts the lid on his days living in New York with the then struggling Gaga.
Lady Gaga whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, used to spend her days and nights partying with friends at her Lower East side apartment, with Sullivan revealing cocaine was never far away. Ahead of the book’s release, Radar Online have reported several excerpts, including Sullivan recalling watching his friend rub a white powder out of her carpet and onto her gums. ‘It’s mint,’ she told him. ‘I wish it was coke.’ The future superstar then allegedly went on to tell Sullivan: ‘I used to do bags and bags of it. Mostly when I was getting ready to go out, while I was putting on my makeup.’
‘I’d get a delivery and then put on some Bowie and treat myself in the mirror. But I only ever did it alone. That was my one rule.’ According to Sullivan though Gaga regularly broke her own rule, allegedly getting her friend to order a delivery of her drug of choice. Most of Gaga’s friends were heavily entrenched in the drug world while she studied at NYU’s Tish School, according to the book.
But this shouldn’t be no surprise, the singer confessed to Vanity Fair in a 2010 interview that she still occasionally dabbled with cocaine: ‘I won’t lie — it’s occasional. And when I say occasional, I mean maybe a couple of times a year.’ The superstar realises her role as a role model to her young fans though, adding: ‘I do not want my fans to ever emulate that or be that way. I don’t want my fans to think they have to be that way to be great. It’s in the past. It was a low point, and it led to disaster.’ ‘I was completely mental and had just been through so much … I hit rock bottom, and it was enough to send a person over the edge.’ That is one crappy friend, making money off of Gaga by revealing her dark past is not the move, especially when she has been very candid about her past, but I guess that’s the price you pay for fame. Lady Gaga will be releasing her new album ARTPOP in November.
