NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice’ premiere focused on Bill Cosby last night, I guess trying to boost their ratings and viewership. The show was taped in early 2014, before the 30 plus year old allegations against Bill Cosby’s surfaced. The reality show was centered around Keshia Knight Pulliam, best known for her role as little Rudy Huxtable on The Cosby Show. Donald Trump fired Keshia Knight Pulliam from the show because she didn’t reach out to Bill Cosby for money. (Which she states she hadn’t spoken to him in over 5 years and didn’t feel comfortable asking for money out of the blue) Just to show how when you do not do what they want – they will dismiss you. After the Celebrity Apprentice aired last night on NBC, former Cosby show star Keshia Pulliam tweeted that the episode of her discussing Bill Cosby was edited. Ohhh the deception of editing… Smh!!
Pulliam was project manager for her team, tasked with raising money for a bake sale by contacting rich friends. She lost out to Geraldo Rivera’s team and had to face Donald Trump, Piers Morgan and Ivanka Trump in the boardroom.
“Did you call Bill?” Trump asked Pulliam you should have reached out to Cosby to raise money. “I did not,” Pulliam said, getting upset. “I have not talked to Bill Cosby on the phone in I don’t know how long. So for me to pick up the phone, having not talked to you for five years, except for when we run into each other for a Cosby event– I feel that’s not my place to do.”
Trump disagreed. “You have this tremendous guy with this tremendous amount of money. And with one phone call you could have won this whole event.”
Trump didn’t let up. “I really believe, if you’d called that gentleman, he would’ve helped you, even if you hadn’t spoken to him in years, because you were an amazing team with one of the most successful shows ever. So I think it would’ve been a very good call to make for charity. But you have to take responsibility. I think you agree with that.”
He ended up giving her $25,000 out of his pocket for her charity (only winning teams get money), but said, ‘Keshia, you’re fired.”
In an interview Monday morning with the Today show, Pulliam explained her thoughts and showed support towards Bill Cosby.
“The fact that he’s been such an example, you can’t take away from the great that he has done,”Pulliam explained. “You know, the amount … the millions and millions of dollars that he has given back to colleges and education, and just what he did with The Cosby Show and how groundbreaking that was.”
“Ultimately, they’re just that, allegations,” she said. “You know, it’s very much been played out in the court of public opinion. But we’re still in America, where ultimately you’re innocent until proven guilty. I wasn’t there. That’s just not the man I know. So I can’t speak to it.”
Pulliam also did an interview with Access Hollywood
“Whoever is involved, those are the people who were there. I wasn’t there,” Pulliam told hosts Billy Bush and Kit Hoover. “I can only speak to the great man that I know and love, who has been so generous, who has been such a philanthropist, giving back millions of dollars to education and schools. And just the man I grew up knowing. It’s really not my place to speak on that. Unfortunately, in the court of public opinion everyone has formed their opinion, but we’re still in America and you’re innocent until proven guilty of any crimes.” “I can only speak to the man I experienced and I know,” said Pulliam, calling Bill Cosby “awesome.” then Pulliam said “Everything that’s happened, it’s so unfortunate, the whole thing is very, very unfortunate. But I can’t ignore the legacy he’s built.”
And of course Hollywood director, Judd Apatow had something evil to say…….(boy how they forget especially when he works with and supports a self-proclaimed sexual predator)
