Texas are you ready for some Chanel in your life? A morning’s press release from Chanel confirms the location for Karl Lagerfeld’s much-anticipated fashion show on December 10 at Dallas’ Fair Park, a “historical exhibition venue with art deco architecture, situated in the heart of the city.
The show will be prefaced with a film, The Return, about Coco Chanel who is played by Geraldine Chaplin and the opening of her couture house in 1954. If you are not invited to the affair, you can watch the flick debut live on chanel.com at 6:30 p.m. that evening. The reason to why he chose Dallas: Lagerfeld told Vogue magazine earlier this year that he selected Dallas this time because of his fondness for the Lone Star state.
“First of all, I love Texas. I love Texans. There’s another reason: When Chanel reopened, the French press was beyond nasty. The only press that understood it immediately was the American press – so I think it’s a nice thing to go there.”
Coco Chanel came to Dallas to receive the Neiman Marcus Award for Distinguished Service in the Field of Fashion in 1957. She was the sole recipient that year.
