Eddie Murphy Honored With Mark Twain Prize, JB Smoove, Dick Gregory, George Lopez and Many More Come Out To Support

Eddie Murphy was honored October 18th, 2015 in Washington D.C. with the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

The “kid from Brooklyn” was surrounded by laughter, legends and love as he accepted the Mark Twain Prize.

Eddie Murphy’s first onstage joke in 28 years was about Bill Cosby, Murphy jokingly asked “Bill has one of these, Did you all make him give it back?” Then he followed  impersonation Bill Cosby: watch video below.

“When it’s a prize, there’s usually money involved,” he said. “I thought I was going to get paper. . . For future recipients, if you don’t want to call it an award, you could call it a surprise — the surprise being you ain’t getting any money.”

Eddie Murphy commented, “I am deeply honored to receive this recognition from the Kennedy Center and to join the distinguished list of past recipients of this award.”

Murphy is one of the most commercially successful African-American actor in the history in the motion picture business, and is one of the industry’s top-five box office performers overall.
