Now I don’t know if they worked something out for her to get paid, but Intern means, A student or a recent graduate undergoing supervised practical training. I didn’t know Interns got paid literally…. Maybe a few scraps… But nothing to brag home to mom about. Rashida Salaam has filed a lawsuit against the Bad Boy CEO and the parent company Universal Records in a Manhattan federal court yesterday for violating minimum wage laws.
Anybody who knows the industry knows…. If you want advancement in whatever your trying to do, you stay far away from Diddy… He is not about giving you that life. Rashida said that Bad Boy treated her like a regular employee and she wants to be compensated for it. Bottom line they probably buttered her up, bought her a few things and even gave her tickets to exclusive events and parties…. But what she didn’t understand is, that was her payment for being Bad Boy’s slave.
Salaam interned at Bad Boy’s Manhattan office from January 2012 to May 2012, usually working three or four days a week, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. or later. They also had her answer phones, fetch coffee, book trips for Diddy and prepare expense reports. Fellow unpaid interns wrapped presents and decorated the office during holidays, Salaam said. They received no training and performed work that paid employees would have otherwise done, her suit claims.
She also claims “ “Money doesn’t mean anything to me,” said Salaam, who acknowledged she may take flak for suing the company that gave her a shot. “I’m taking this risk for all the interns out there.” She may just win this case, because when you become an UNPAID INTERN it’s in return to LEARN ABOUT THE BUSINESS not to be a damn flunkie. She probably didn’t learn anything and her attorney didn’t take this case for nothing. He knows he’ll win which is why he wants everybody who was treated like this woman to get in on the “class action” suit, because HIS CUT will 1/3rd no matter what, while the other 500 will have to split what’s left.
