Comedian Bill Cosby is fighting several legal battles basically at the same time, one day after a judge ruled Janice Dickinson’s defamation case can go to trial, Cosby wins delay in Judy Huth civil case. Huth, is suing Cosby –alleging Cosby assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion in 1974, when she was 15 years old.
Today on March, 30th Los Angeles County Superior Court judge Craig D. Karlan ruled discovery related to both parties is on hold — including Cosby’s deposition that was scheduled for April 7.
“Part of my concern is protecting both parties’ rights and keeping the case moving forward,” Karlan said in a Wednesday morning hearing. “Justice delayed is justice denied.”
Judy Huth is suing Cosby, claiming she was traumatized.
“This traumatic incident, at such a tender age, has caused psychological damage and mental anguish for Plaintiff that has caused her significant problems throughout her life since the incident,” states the complaint.
In the civil case, Huth claims Cosby assaulted her at an event at the Playboy mansion 40 plus years ago when she was a teenager.
Gloria Allred & Huth passed the state’s statute of limitations to file a claim, however Huth was able to file her case because she was a minor at the time of the alleged assault.

Statement by Attorneys for William H. Cosby Jr.
Today, in Huth v. Cosby, the Court granted Mr. Cosby’s motion for a stay of his discovery in this case pending the outcome of Commonwealth v. Cosby in Montgomery County, PA. This includes a stay of Mr. Cosby’s continued deposition, previously scheduled to take place April 7th. In so doing, the court recognized the dilemma faced by a defendant who must choose between defending civil litigation by providing testimony on one hand and losing the case by asserting the constitutional right to remain silent on the other hand, and rightly issued an order eliminating the necessity of such an untenable choice
Huth’s attorney Gloria Allred says she intends to depose Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner and Renita Hill, another accuser whose defamation suit was dismissed because no evidence to prove her claim.
