One day, One Message One goal. Today marks the fourth annual World Humanitarian Day, the United Nations created this day to honor those who have lost their lives in humanitarian service or serve in risky humanitarian endeavors.
The United Nations and humanitarian aid organizations around the world teamed up with Beyoncé, and leading creative-industry partners Droga5 and Ridley Scott & Associates to celebrate World Humanitarian Day 2012, and celebrate the spirit of people helping people.
“This could arguably be the largest mobilization of good intention in web history, an amazing coming together of celebrity, brands and NGOs,” Andrew Essex–chief executive of Droga5, which helped organize the event–told Yahoo News on Sunday. “Think of it as ‘We Are The World’ for the social media generation.”—-Yahoo.com
The campaign reached and exceeded its billion-message goal–1,042,785,420 to be exact. Yesterday Beyoncé premiered music video for “I was here”
