Dutch magazine Calls Rihanna A N.I.G.G.A B*tch

In an article published in the latest issue of Dutch fashion magazine Jackie, the magazine offers a little advice on how to dress like Rihanna without looking like the “ultimate Brotha Manbitch.” That’s right. what he said. Check out the full English translation.
English Translation:
She has street cred, she has a ghetto ass and she has a golden throat. Rihanna, the good girl gone bad, is the ultimate n.i.g.g.abitch and displays that gladly, and for her that means: what’s on can come off. If that means she’ll be on stage half naked, then so be it. But Dutch winters aren’t like Jamaican ones, so pick a clothing style in which your daughter can resist minus ten. No to the big sunglasses and the pornheels, and yes to the tiger print, pink shizzle and everything that glitters. Now let’s hope she won’t beat anybody up at daycare. Two hours ago, Jackie Editor in Chief Eva Hoeke posted the below apology on the magazine’s Facebook page:

Dear readers,
First: thanks for all your responses. We are of course very fed up over this and especially very
shocked. However I’m glad that we’re engaging in a dialogue on this page — not everybody does
that. Thanks for this. Other than that I can be brief about this: this should have never happened.
Period. While the author meant no harm — the title of the article was intended as a joke — it was a bad joke, to say the least. And that slipped through my, the editor-in-chief’s, fingers. Stupid, painful and sucks for all concerned. The author has been addressed on it, and now I can only ensure that these terms will no longer end up in the magazine. Furthermore I hope that you all believe there was absolutely no racist motive behind the choice of words. It was stupid, it was naive to think that this was an acceptable form of slang — you hear it all the time on tv and radio, then your idea of what is normal apparently shifts — but it was especially misguided: there was no malice behind it. We make our magazine with love, energy and enthusiasm, and it can sometimes happen that someone is out of line. And then you can only do one thing: apologize. And hope that others wish to accept it.
From the bottom of my heart I say it again: we never intended to offend anyone. And I mean that.
Regards,
Eva Hoeke

So, as editor in chief, Hoeke had no idea that this was offensive before running it and actually considered it a joke? In addition to being blatantly racist, calling Rihanna Jamaican and actually suggesting that mothers dress their daughters like her, this article is just wrong from every angle.

According to a source in Holland, Jackie is a well known fashion publication in Holland with a circulation of 57,700 copies per month.

Not saying that what Jackie did was right, but when Rihanna got on twitter and called herself a n*gger Bajan on twitter , you can’t get mad when people start following your lead. See  Rihanna’s responds to Dutch Mag

This is the definition of a hypocrite. If saying nigga and bitch is wrong and racist, why does she use it in her songs whne talking about blacks and women and why does she work with other artist who use it in there songs when talking about blacks and women? I find it racist when blacks say it and I find it racist when non blacks say it. Rihanna should be held accountable for her hypocrisy and we should not allow her and other blacks to a higher standard. Rasicm is rasicm. Sexism is Sexism. Wrong is wrong.

I am originally from the Netherlands and before I moved to the States I never realized that swearing is considered more offensive in English than in Dutch. We swear in English regularly too, but when you use the same words in an English conversation they are considered far more offensive. On top of that, the Dutch translation of the n-word is actually a normal word for black people. In some newspapers you regularly see the word, for example.

I don’t know the magazine, but her apology seems sincere to me and I honestly think she didn’t mean to offend anyone.

Actually, I’m Dutch as well and white and very shocked, who the F calls someone a “nigga bitch”, what does that even mean? Just put two offensive words randomly together, to make it even more degrading?

  • Tim

Look up for Rihanna’s song ‘G4l’. Words of nigga and bitch in it. But hey, she is an artist and black or what should be named black.

  • Jaja

And not a fuck was given… Stupid women calling other stupid women names…

  • Me

If you can’t stand the word “nigga”, you probably are one!

    • http://www.tattletailzz.com Elle Brooklyn

Wow, that was really ignorant.. Your one for even saying some BS like that.

  • Bereni

I hear constantly in in rapsongs, Nigga That Nigga This…..

  • jen

Well, it was a joke that went overboard, but crying SHAME and RACISM is a bit overreacted. Rihanna and performers like her portray themselves as ghetto girls with matching attire and vocabulary, no wonder it’s repeated and magnified. A bit hypocritical of Rihanna to be so pissed off. Jackie should have understood that even when black people call each other nigga or bitch or whatever, it is ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN FOR A WHITE PERSON TO DO SO!!

    • Kerron

Jen have you ever been to a rihanna concert?
this is where you know someone is racist…No matter what rihanna did, to call someone a “niXXa bitch” is just wrong..that’s the problem with you people…i beleive it is so possible to be racist and not know it….and let me guess your probably white, conservative and a Republican….

      • http://www.tattletailzz.com Elle Brooklyn

Who is Jen??? and no I am not a racist, my point is if you go around calling yourself, ignorant names, then how can you get mad when the next person does it? What that editor did was not right by no means.

      • Jen

Hi Kerron, yes I’m white, but very liberal for american standards because I’m dutch. Niggabitch is a wrong thing to say and it would never be something I would say. I’m no more a racist than you, my point was just that for there to be racism – which is an ugly and hateful thing – the intention would need to be as ugly and hateful, and it was not. And to say this article is proof that all white dutch people are (closeted) racists is just going overboard as far as I’m concerned. Let alone a reason to “never visit” the Netherlands. We definitely have a more relaxed attitude towards race here, especially compared to the US where everybody just needs to remove the stick from their behinds in my opinion. For example: it is a common sight here to see mixed-race-couples, (black/white OMG!! jeez…) whereas in America, the movie industry has now carefully moved to Denzel Washington co-starring with Eva Mendes but GOD FORBID his love interest in the movie were white?!?! It’s so obvious…
So I’m not FOR the article, I thought it was a pretty tasteless thing, but I’m definitely AGAINST the outraged reactions to it where dutch people are portrayed as disgusting KKK-like nazis.

        • Kerron

Jen i feel kinda stupid now cuz i thought you where an Amercian…Out of all the countries in the world The Netherlands is known for it’s tolerance of ALL people it’s a great country. that’s why i was so shocked to hear this type of non sense from a Dutch. the problem i have here is that it really does matter what rihanna did the statement is just wrong. what gets my blood boiling is the reason why the author called her those words. Lady Gaga does the same the that rihanna does in her concert however you and i both know that she would never be called those words. Maybe the person is not racist but he/she is definitely Racially Insensitive. I’m sorry for calling you out and making assumption about you, how ironic you ending up to be almost the opposite. But i also think if black people think the word is so insulting to them (and i’m black) we should STOP using the word altogether. It’s stupid to say you can say that word because your white and it insults me and then turn and use the word to address a “homie”.

    • Anonymous

it is not really forbidden, it is only extremely bad taste for both black and white. unfortunately there is a large crowd of blacks who think it good fun or some incrowd signal to address themselves using foul language. It is near insult by proxy to all my friends or collegues.

  • Bistritaworld

White people can’t say ‘n**ger’. Because they’re white. Black people want it that way; to prevent racism, or something.
    Yeah right, go American hypocrisy.

  • ddiamond

In Holland saying nigger isn’t an insult. It is actually also used by politicians. You need to see it in perspective.

    • Anon

Not exactly. The Dutch word ‘neger’  can both be translated to ‘nigger’ and ‘negro’. The Dutch word is generally not seen or meant as an insult, and negro isn’t either. Saying negro is the same as using the term African-American etc.
The word nigger, however,is seen as a racial slur.
So generally when a Dutch politician says ‘neger’ it’s best translated to ‘negro’  because it’s not meant to be a insult.

Anyhow, I think this was a very dumb move from the magazine. Regardless of their intentions, how they thought they could get away with calling someone a niggabitch is beyond me.

      • Anonymous

Nonsense. Furthermore:the magazine had better used quotes around the word. It is/was a citation. Or can statement, lyrics or parts of these not be printed?

    • Anonymous

Where did you get this wisdom? You were taken. And badly.
Your nigger would be nikker. I haven’t heard a person in real life use that word. Possibly the group themselves do. Which is still very bad behaviour. But that would then be their unexplainable privilege?
Neger would be more like the hispanic negro. Only people with very long toes take insult from these. But still there are numbers of these. Likely they enjoy being nasty.
